Many researchers have been studying isomorphic keyboards as alternative layouts.  Brett Park, Steven Maupin and David Gerhard are currently working on constructing a new music interface that brings reconfigurable isomorphisms into physical space.

The rainboard uses special iPad software (called Musix, developed by Shiverware in association with the aRMADILo) for layout configuration and tone generation.  This software also runs by itself (without the need for the rainboard) and allows users to experiment with all isomorphic layouts.

Yang Zhao and David Gerhard are working on a new method to adaptively resize Fourier windows to improve the accuracy of partial extraction for harmonic signals.  Recent progress is promising, and we hope to publish results soon.
